While the sound is incredible the OP seems to have a thermal issue in my setup as after around 1-2 hours of listening I lose the left channel. I already tried opening the chassis but this does not help for me. As I said – while working the sound is amazing but the fact that I can only use it for a short period of time before I need to switch off the Amp is frustrating.
I have similar issues, the V5i gets warm to touch very quickly (within a few minutes) and very hot after an hour or so. The problem I’m having is the sound, if I Fostex TH-X00, I get flabby bass, unbearable amount on both low and high gain settings of the LDi+. But if I use my HD598, everything seems fine, clear as a whistle. I suspect it has something to do with the combination of my DAC (Asus Essence STX II), the LDi+, and TH-X00 that made the sound unlistenable (is that a word?) probably the low impedance of the TH-X00?
