Return of Burson Interconnection Cable

¡¡

Music lovers will agree that a fine cable can unleash the true potential of a system. As we all know, your system can only be as good as the weakest link in the chain. Interconnection cable is often overlooked because it is a passive component and they carry a relatively big price tag for such a small link in the system.

Myths:

  1. Cables do not make sound so they are less important than the rest of the system.

  2. I can't justify spending money on cables.

  3. They simply can't bring Improvement to my Hi-Fi system.

  4. You need to "Match" the "Right cable" to your system in order for your system to "sound good".

  5. You know silver has less resistance to copper. So silver-plated or pure silver cable should sound better.

  6. Big brand, expensive price tag = Good Sound. After all they manufacture cables with magical materials harvested from the Moon.

Facts:

  1. Although interconnection cables do not produce any sound, they have a very important role in the system. They have to transmit a very weak signal from point A to Point B with minimum loss and distortion.

  2. Most of the so-called ¡°Audiophile¡± cable companies do not even make any cables at all. For cost concern, they just order their cables to be made or simply purchase OEM cables from big cable manufacturers like N***tech, Belden or CDT and label them with their own names. So what you get with a nice logo on the outside might just be the same thing as the cable cost 10 times less.

  3. The real cost of making that piece of ¡°Magical Cable¡± is very low. It is the high marketing cost and the smiling face in the shop that makes up those large price tags.

  4. Compared to a $1000 cable, a $10 cable is not 100 times worse.

  5. There is no such thing as "Matching the right cable to the right system"!!! We, (Team Burson) are so sick of hearing this type of nonsense! Does the cable improve the quality of a recording? NO! Does cable correct Jitter? NO! Does cable amplify signals? NO! The better cable will always be the better cable.

  6. Cable is like a piece of glass between you and the picture (music). The higher quality the cable the less coloration and distortion. Better is always better. So next time when a salesman tells you about matching cables to your system, just walk away.

Burson solution to the reference sound

¡¡

Team Burson cross-examined many top notch cables on offer in the market (priced from $100 to $2,000).  We have compared and examined extensively into the sonic signature, geometry, conductor material, insulation material, connector type and other factors. We combined our extensive knowledge in the area and searched for the best raw materials available. We then sat down and listened - listened and compared.

  1. We believe very few cables on the market are coloration free and have a very transparent sound. (And if they are, they will be asking for a lot of money Most of them have some sort of coloration either on the bass or at the top end (it is much easier for them to sell cables with the ¡°wow¡± effect). We on the other hand, are aiming for a natural and detailed sound that is transparent and it is coloration free. We are lucky enough to source a high purity copper base alloy that achieves just that.

  2. Insulation is exceptionally important for interconnection cables. Material that absorbs and later releases energy will cost loss of micro detail. Most branded cables choose to use soft insulation for two obvious reasons; easy to manufacture and much cheaper to produce. However soft insulation material will absorb energy. We on the other hand take no shortcuts. Our conductor is insulated with a thin layer of special glass fiber compound (similar to PCB broad) to minimize any loss of micro details.

  3. Properly isolating the signal from any interference with expensive copper shielding.

If you think a transparent sound is flat and dull then you are wrong!

First of all, the Buron¡¯s Interconnection Cable is tonally balanced and neutral with a well extended and powerful bass range. This is the first thing you say when you connect the Burson to your system. As days go by you start to understand that the Burson is also extremely refined and clean: never too warm or too cold it sounds naturally precise and detailed in the highs. For example, voices flow through it with ease, full-bodied (male) or delicate (female) as they should always be. It offers a lot of micro and macro detail. The bass range is deep and very linear, in the sense that there are no reinforcements or "weak" spots. To state it in few words, one of the best bass ranges I've ever heard. The feeling I have when listening to my favour music through this cable is that the sound flows through it without effort as it was, dare I say it, "liquid". An impressive performance!

The effortless sound of the Burson is the main responsible for a very natural dynamic performance: though not explosive, it can follow the energy patterns of every kind of music without sounding harsh or compressed. It doesn't matter if the amount of energy transferred is large or tiny...the Burson Interconnection Cable will transfer it to your speakers without adding or subtracting anything of its own. Subtle variations are offered with precision and harmonic richness that make the reproduced sound so natural.

Burson Interconnection cable is not going to turn your $200 system into a multi-million dollar performer. However it will unleash your equipment to perform to its full potential. If you upgrade your system, the Burson Interconnection Cable will allow you to hear all the improvements the new gear brings to your system without adding or taking away any details.

"To update you on the interconnects they have now had about 20 hours burning in and are sounding much nicer in my system.  Dynamics and image are similar to before but highs are less sharp and the mids smoother.  Base is impressively deep.  These are great cables and are improving with time..."

"I wish I would have tried your cables earlier, as it would have saved me $600!!!
It confirms my belief that a lot of NAME cables are way overpriced for the gain in resolution you get.It all comes down to Research (listening),materials, shielding, workmanship (terminating) & passion.I believe you are on a winner with your interconnects .I wish you & your team well with all your products.I know I will be trying some of your other products in the near future.( I will be passing the cables around in My audio club for sure).
Two points
1 Signal direction marking?
2 On my pre-amp , the locking RCA's were a pain to change over with my other sources connected.."

"The cables arrived today.  All in good condition.

I have had a reasonable listen to both cables mainly with vocals and acoustic instruments.  The interconnects were placed behind a really nice sounding solid state CD player. Amplification is all tube with full range speakers. I compared the interconnects to a pair of silver interconnects

from Greg Osborn (my preferred interconnect) and the Bursons I bought from you some time ago. The speaker cables were compared to some biwire Osborns. These are easily the best speaker cables I have.  So this is what I think straight out of the pack with no burn in period and about 90 minutes changing bits and pieces.

The interconnects are very fine indeed.  They have detailed and extended highs, transparent forward mids and well resolved tight and deep base. Pretty good so far.  They sound very dynamic and create a great stereo image.  At first listening they sound the equal of  the Osborn Silverlinks.

In fact to two sound very similar to each other.   I presume the Bursons are also made of silver wire.  Compared to the Silverlinks the Bursons sound a little brighter - perhaps too bright but definitely not harsh sounding.  The Bursons may also be more detailed in the highs and possibly the mids.  Maybe

more air around voices.  These are not big differences and may relate to lack of burn in.  All in all a great product.  Congrats to you for selling them at a keen price and to MB for building them.

Compared to the older Bursons these interconnects are definitely a better sounding cable.  The key difference is in the high frequencies.  The new ones do this much better being brighter and more detailed.  I still like the mellower sound of the old Bursons but the new ones are definitely more

involving.  The older Burson are still much liked but will now have to be relegated to third best in my kit.

I have left the new Burson interconnects in my system.  While I type, I am listening to Sarah K (Chesky).  This is great music and beautifully recorded..."
